BROOKLYN, NY — Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to grow up in a different time? History’s Kids, a new children’s podcast, officially launches September 8, 2026, with new episodes available every other week on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and all major listening apps. Each episode explores a famous event in history through the firsthand account of someone who was really there when they were a kid.

Through stories of the past, young listeners learn how they, too, can become changemakers and witnesses to history. Season one immerses kids in moments like the Eruption of Mount St. Helens, the Civil Rights Movement, and World War II, going beyond the facts found in a textbook. Each episode runs under 20 minutes, perfect for classrooms, car rides, or curious minds on the go.

The first episode, “Stuck on a Field Trip: Carmen and the Eruption of Mount St. Helens,” tells the true story of a 14-year-old who was stranded with her classmates for three days when the mountain blew. Each episode is accompanied by resources for teachers and families, including kid-friendly activities and book recommendations.

“It has been an honor to capture these stories,” said Lorraine Leddy, a former classroom teacher and the show’s creator. “From an 87-year-old who was at one of Jackie Robinson’s first MLB games to a 71-year-old who watched the moon landing on TV and grew up to become a rocket scientist, each person reminds kids that history is made by people just like them.”
