World Wide Web of Sports is a family-friendly podcast telling some of the greatest sports stories you’ve never heard… until now.
World Wide Web of Sports is a cinematic, family-friendly narrative podcast bringing incredible true stories of underdogs, dreamers and unlikely sports heroes to life through a cast of real voice actors, original music and immersive sound design.
The series is created by writer-director Patrick Green and producer, composer and sound designer Miles Kennedy. The narrator is PJ Butta, in-game announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“We’re sports fans, dads and storytellers, and we spend a ridiculous amount of time in the car driving our kids to school, practices and games,” says Green. “We wanted something we could all listen to together — great sports stories with the same sense of teamwork, resilience and adventure as the movies we grew up loving. We couldn’t find it, so we decided to make it ourselves.”
Season One travels around the world and through sports history, including Panyee FC, the kids from a floating village in Thailand who built their own soccer field; Tubby Johnston, the 11-year-old girl who cut her hair, posed as a boy and broke Little League baseball’s gender barrier in the 1950s; and the birth of BMX, when a group of kids in West Los Angeles turned a neighborhood park into a dirt track and helped launch a new sport.
WORLD WIDE WEB OF SPORTS is now streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible and wherever you get your podcasts.
