Pacotti, the lead writer of the seminal video game Deus Ex, announces the launch of “Friday Farsight,” a groundbreaking weekly podcast that bridges artificial intelligence, futurism, and human curiosity. The show aired its first episode on January 30, 2026, and will explore predictions from Strategic Farsight, an AI-powered collaborative timeline of the future.

 

Each episode features Pacotti alongside his AI-generated co-hosts Biff and Betty, who guide listeners through the ever-expanding encyclopedia of future predictions housed on the Strategic Farsight website. Pacotti opens each installment with his own expert commentary, drawing on more than three decades of experience crafting speculative worlds and complex narratives.

 

“I’ve wanted a comprehensive knowledge base of the future for decades, specifically as a resource for my science fiction work,” said Pacotti. “But maintaining such a database manually was impossible. Now we have AI—instead of a lonely soul collecting fragments of research, we have all of the world’s information, alive, waiting to have a conversation with us.”

 

Strategic Farsight represents Pacotti’s vision of making future forecasting accessible and collaborative. About Sheldon J. Pacotti

 

Sheldon J. Pacotti is a multi-disciplinary writer, software architect, and game designer who bridges technical development and creative narrative arts. As lead writer of Deus Ex (2000), he helped create a complex world of conspiracy, philosophy, and player agency that earned Gamasutra’s “Quantum Leap” award for advancing game storytelling. He continued the series with Deus Ex: Invisible War (2003) and later founded New Life Interactive, developing the innovative cellular automata-based game Cell: emergence.

 

Beyond gaming, Pacotti is a published author whose futurist essays and science fiction have appeared in Salon.com, Clarkesworld, Interzone, and Analog Science Fiction & Fact. He currently serves as Technology Director at frog, a global design and strategy firm, and previously taught at the University of Texas at Austin. He studied math and English at MIT and Harvard.
